Percival

This was a character design project called The Savior Wants to Retire where I assigned to create 3-4 characters and try to emulate their personality into their turnarounds and poses.

Pervical is the Archduke of Lancaster in the kingdom of Rosswell. He is adored by the people of his kingdom for winning the 6 year war and is praised for his strategic and swordsmanship abilities. Some may argue, with the manpower and sway he has on the people of Rosswell, that he has the power to overthrow the King of Rosswell.

Outwardly he may seem to be a stern and intimidating man but Pervical is a sweet and caring soul. One day, a boy named Luciel shows up at his estate who demanded the Archduke adopts him, lest he expose Percival’s secret which no meer orphan should know.

Roslyn

This was a character design project called The Savior Wants to Retire where I assigned to create 3-4 characters and try to emulate their personality into their turnarounds and poses.

Roslyn is Luceil’s self proclaimed “rival” because he was jealous of the special attention Luciel got from the King of Rosswell, Nathaniel Vanneck. In the future, Roslyn will become the Captain of the Guard in Rosswell. However, when he witnesses the unjust slaughter of his rival, Luciel, at the hands of the King, he devoted his life to, Roslyn goes on a warpath to avenge Luciel’s death. Roslyn dies in battle, fighting King Nathaniel and then suddenly wakes up in the body of his 6 year old self who was just recruited to apprentice under the knights of Rosswell. Filled with rage and grief, Roslyn vows to kill King Nathaniel and destroy the kingdom he once protected.

Luciel

This was a character design project called The Savior Wants to Retire where I assigned to create 3-4 characters and try to emulate their personality into their turnarounds and poses.

Luciel was born in the slums of the kingdom of Rosswell. When he was 6, a magician of the palace discovered his powerful magical potential. He was brought before the King of Rosswell, Nathaniel Vanneck, who adopted the child into the monarchy and trained him to an amazing magician. Luciel was always grateful to King Nathaniel and blossomed under his attention. The King had told Luciel that his magic would one day be the Savior of Rosswell to save them from the evil curse that threatens the kingdom. Then when Luciel turned 19, King Nathaniel told him he was ready to banish the curse. At the altar of the church, Luciel summoned all the magic that filled his soul.

That is when King Nathaniel stabbed him in his back and let him bleed on the altar as a human sacrifice. Luciel felt betrayed and heartbroken, When the light faded from his eyes, he woke up in the body of his 6 year old self. He had traveled back into the past. So with the knowledge that he was going to be raised as a human sacrifice for the kingdom, he ran to the only person who might have the authority to protect Luciel from the King, the Archduke of Lancaster.

Background Designs for The Savior Wants to Retire

The Savior Wants to Retire is a story about Luciel, a magically blessed child, who in the future will become a human sacrifice to save the Kingdom of Rosswell. He is betrayed by the King, Nathaniel, who he thought of as his father when he adopted him off the streets and groomed him to be the “Savior of Rosswell.” Now that he woke up back in the body of his 6 year old self, Luciel decides that he never wants to work another day in his life and would rather watch Rosswell burn from a comfortable chair. So he goes to someone who has the power to protect him from the King himself, the Archduke of Lancaster, Percival. Luciel threatens to blackmail Percival with information he got from the future in order for the Archduke to adopt him. But just as he relaxes in his new life of luxury, Luciel notices that something is off and that there are more mysteries to the reason of his slaughter than he once assumed.

Cartoon Styles: Bellamy

This was a character design project where I challeneged myself to draw my original character, Bellamy in different iconic cartoon styles.

Friendly Cartoon Characters

An animal character design project where I was challenged with creating characters within the same cartoon universe. I deicded to do with a simple loopy line pattern style and use textured gradients in their hair to unify these fellas together.

Age Chart: Floxglove

A character deisgn project where I illustrated different stages of Foxglove’s life. I tried to make sure that you could tell this was the same character by keeping the same baggy pants theme, similar style of blunt hair and the eyes being the same shape.

Character Design: Different Styles

This was a character design project where I used a lot of shape language to create unique characters with different cartoon styles and line work.

Laika and Kaiya: Expression Chart

This is an expression chart of my original characters Laika (the space dog) and Kaiya (the child). This was a final assignment I spent a semester doing called the Laika & Kaiya Project.
