This narrative illustration is from an original story called Momo Meets the Neighborhood which is based off of the Japanese folkstale Momotaro. This is a spot illustration of the story where Momo has successfully made friends with his neighborhood and eats kibidango with them. Momo Meets the Neighborhood is a children's story heavily based off of the old Japanese tale called Momotaro. Momotaro is originally about a boy who befriends some brave animals and together they defeat the greedy orgres in order to return the treasure they stole from his town.
In this retold story, Momo and his family have just recently moved into their new home. However, Momo has been anxious and sad because he's been having trouble making friends with the neighborhood kids. In order to soothe his son's worries, Momo's mother makes kibidango for him to give as gift to the next door residents and for him to make some friends.
